Asahi Linux is an open-source project focused on bringing a Linux operating system to Apple Silicon-based Macintosh computers. The initiative aims to create a fully functional daily-use system, requiring substantial reverse engineering efforts, particularly concerning the proprietary graphics processing unit. Initially targeting models released in 2020, the project was initiated by Hector Martin following the introduction of the first M1 devices.
