gocryptfs is a free and open-source tool enabling file encryption on Linux and macOS systems. It functions as a virtual file system, utilizing FUSE to present an encrypted view of data stored as individual, protected files on the underlying storage medium. A separate, independently developed implementation exists for Windows, providing similar functionality on that platform.
