Knoppix is a Debian-based operating system initially conceived as a live environment, capable of running directly from removable media like CDs, DVDs, or USB drives. Programs are dynamically loaded and decompressed into memory during operation, providing a functional computing experience without permanent installation. While primarily intended for live use, Knoppix also offers the option of a standard installation to a hard drive.
